The Public Talks

i remember when i use to give a number of public talks.

i had a binder with every public talk listed by number in it.

i don't have it anymore.. when i did the fade in 2002 after 33 years a slave since 1969. i destroyed all my watchtower materials and i had a lot.

i did a few public talks--home and away--in my early 20's. they were about an hour back then--50 years ago.

i developed a theory--i could talk for 20 minutes--then repeat then--repeat again. i wondered if anyone would notice.

Dreading the new system of things

was i the only one who secretly dreaded the new system of things a little bit when i was a believing witness?

of course i felt very guilty, because of all the sick and heartbroken people who needed a perfect world to live in.

but there are a lot of nice parts of life i was going to secretly miss.

I just wanted my own pet lion. I was worried that as i was a bit naughty sometimes i would end up with a shitty leopard or summat.

The paranormal.

i know that a lot of the people on here have turned their backs on the idea of a deity deciding that god does not exist.

but what about the unseen spirit world generally such as poltergeists, jinns, voodoo, etc.

if you have become agnostic, atheist, or just don't care since leaving, do you think that there are spirits out there or have you decided that is also hokum?

Did you enjoy your visit to Bethel?

i recently had to take a trip with my family to bethel.

it was a bit torturous for a secret apostate as you can imagine.

but mostly just so boring.

i went on a trip to the UK bethel as a kid--in the early 60's. once was too often..at least i never felt the call to go and work there.

going past a 'new-age' shop today i stupidly said to my most 'uber' wife, do you want a reading?

" ..not a good idea.. oh dear.. she opened up correcting my every other word and brought in a stream of jw speak and now many hours later is still steaming under an acute cloud of sol.. oh god keep me from being so stupid; cut out my tongue, glue my teeth together.

i had resigned in 1971. in 1974 an effort was made to get me back in before it was too late. the brother assigned to this task offered to come once a week to try to get me interested. about the 3rd week he mentioned he had bought a car on hire purchase because he would never have to pay it off---seriously, the guy was totally convinced 1975 would mean armageddon. that was our last meeting. ( i heard a few years back he became a circuit servant . perfect fit for the job )

in the summer of 1975 i had my wicked way with my born-in wife--and in april 76 she had our first boy. he is 42 now--long gone from the cult--and his loving born-in mother totally shuns him.

A Cult Tactic: Removing Guilt By Dehumanising Others

in the real world, very few parents would disown their own children simply because they read a magazine that told them to do it.

very few people would forever completely ignore their own parents because an elder got up on a platform one day and announced that they no longer follow the same religion as you.. in the real world it just doesn't happen.

and yet, for 8 million jehovah's witnesses it's very a normal part of their world to treat "other people" differently than they'd treat each other.

Seriously? We're going to try to equate "mommy didn't invite me to the family BBQ" to what the Nazis and Japanese did in WWII???
I think this is a stretch beyond belief. The WTS try to paint us as "the enemy" because to them, we are. It doesn't really come anywhere close to the barbarism that has happened in history.

the watchtower society expects its' adherents to believe their god will destroy all humanity in the very near future ( except for his witnesses -of course )

i dont think the nazis were quite that ambitious.
